What is the Classic Racing Car Club?
We are a non-profit racing club established to facilitate the running of the Jochen Rindt Trophy races (JRT) at the 2021 Thruxton Historic festival. The success of the event exceeded all expectations and has continued to grow in 2022, 23, 24 & 25. The latest event run over the weekend of 21st & 22nd of June 2025 was part of the new Thruxton Retro Festival. The winner of the JRT on aggregate over the two races was Chris Porritt in his fabulous Ex Davina Galica, Olympus Cameras Chevron B40. On aggregate over the two races Chris just pipped previous winner and Ralt RT4 star Rory Smith by just 2.668 seconds after 70 miles of racing around the spectacular Hampshire venue. Smith taking post ‘79 Formula Atlantic honours on the way. Third overall was JRT newcomer Mark Harrison in his March 772 F2 chassis. Mark enjoying more track miles than most over the blisteringly hot weekend as he also wowed the crowds in his Ex Jan Lammers Reynard F3000 during some stunning demo sessions. In his 60th year of competitive motor racing former F1 and World Sportscar ace Mike Wilds finished an incredible 4th overall driving Peter Venn’s Ex John Nicholson Lyncar FA005 and collected pre ‘79 Atlantic honours to boot. The 2.0 litre Classic F3 class was the closest fought for years and went the way of five time JRT competitor Richard Cooke in his Toyota powered March 793, taking 5th place overall.
