What is the Classic Racing Car Club?
We are a non-profit racing club established to facilitate the running of the ‘Jochen Rindt Trophy Race’ (JRT) at the 2021 Thruxton Historic festival. The success of the event exceeded all expectations and continued to grow in 2022, 23 & 24. The latest event run over the weekend of 22nd / 23rd June 2024, the winner of the JRT on aggregate over the two races was Tom Smith in his beautifully driven 1974 ex Bruce Jensen March 74B. Tom took second place behind popular winner Martin Wood’s March in Saturday’s opening encounter, before winning race two. On the way, Smith set a scorching pace, including a fastest lap of 1m 13.110 secs (ave. 116.01mph). New for the CRCC in 2024 was our first ‘away day’ the Classic Formula Libre (CFL) event at Brands Hatch (Indy) on 31st August, a one day affair comprising of a qualifying session and two races. Both races were won by local driver Matin Wood in his Beta Tools March, Formula Atlantic, but he was chased all the way by Robin Lackford in his earlier GRD, only a fraction behind at the flag. In 2025 the JRT is scheduled for Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd June. Three CFL events (all with two races) for 2025 are: Oulton Park (Full) April 12th, Silverstone (National) May 17th / 18th, Donington Park (National) August 9th / 10th.
